DMULQ started as a simple idea: a personal corner of the internet for tech, travel, gadgets, and the occasional chaotic take on modern life. What it has become is a fully self-hosted Ghost blog, running on a Raspberry Pi, exposed securely through Cloudflare Tunnel, with working email, live navigation, and custom tools built right into the pages.

The early days were messy. The blog lived on a local IP, access was patchy, and some things — like sending email — only worked once the right SMTP settings were in place. Mailgun eventually came online, and after a few DNS tweaks, sign-up confirmations stopped landing in spam.

One of the best parts has been adding actual functionality to the site. The QR Code Generator is a good example. It started as an experiment with embedded HTML and external libraries, ran into Ghost’s content-editing quirks, and ended up as a clean, working page that generates real QR codes in the browser. That kind of iteration is the whole point.

There’s also a welcome post, a news links page, a Sky News live page, and now proper site navigation tying it all together. The goal is simple: make this a place that’s useful, a little funny, and genuinely personal.

This is just the beginning. More tools, more posts, and more experiments are on the way.
